日本で初めてノーベル文学賞を受賞した川端康成が書いた短編小説「伊豆の踊り子」の舞台です。

「踊子歩道」の名でハイキングコースとして整備されています。川端康成の小説『伊豆の踊子』で、踊り子一行が歩いた旧下田街道を含む道。
